The Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s Ground Transportation Center and Consolidated Rental Car Facility has been selected as the North American Aviation Deal of the Year by Proximo.
In partnership with the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority and the rental car industry, the deal was led by Conrac Solutions (a Meridiam-owned company) and Meridiam, the entity which provided the project’s full equity investment. Financial close for the project took place May 2024 and facility opening is scheduled for 2028.
Proximo provides market intelligence in the finance, infrastructure and energy industries.
The $299 million privately financed project is part of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport’s MoreRNO multi-year infrastructure program. Through Conrac Solutions’ Tenant Development Approach, via a 30-year ground lease from the RTAA, the facility will be delivered substantially off-balance sheet for the Airport and at no cost to local taxpayers, thereby freeing up additional Airport credit capacity.
The new facility will house 24 fuel stations, 6 car washes and 300 staging/storage spaces to support up to 10 rental car brands. Notable features of the 440,000 square foot facility include convenient pedestrian access from the terminal baggage claim via a covered walkway, and infrastructure to support a potential future transition to electric rental car fleets. The airport garage will also gain additional public parking spaces by relocating rental car fleets from their existing garage to the new facility.
